In Science, pupils have been learning about sound and how it travels. During our recent lesson, we explored this by creating simple telephones using paper cups and string. Through this investigation, pupils discovered that sound is produced by vibrations. When one person speaks into the cup, these vibrations travel along the stretched string and cause the second cup to vibrate. The sound waves are then transferred into the listener’s ear, allowing the sound to be heard.
